Associate Attorney
Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Rachel W. Glavis, Esq., LL.M. (Taxation) is an Associate attorney at the Law Offices of Nancy M. Rice. Rachel dedicates her practice to estate, tax and long-term care planning, estate administration, guardianship, and litigation related to each of these areas. She works with individuals and their families to develop and institute plans to accommodate tax savings, asset-preservation, and long-term care concerns.

Rachel has experience drafting estate planning instruments including wills, durable powers of attorney, and advance directives for health care. She prepares revocable and irrevocable trusts, including supplemental or special needs trusts. Rachel also advises executors, administrators, and trustees with the administration of estates and trusts. She represents fiduciaries, beneficiaries and interested parties in accounting actions, will contests and other probate litigation matters. The following are examples of some of Rachel's representative matters:

• Brought an action before the Cape May County Superior Court in a will contest challenge which led to mediation, a favorable settlement for the beneficiary, and avoided protracted litigation costs for her client.

• Prepared and defended client's formal and informal guardianship final accountings before various Superior Courts of New Jersey and the Philadelphia Orphans' Court.

• Represented beneficiaries to modify a will including testamentary trust provisions.

Rachel graduated with honors from Villanova University School of Business in 1991 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration. After working for a large corporation and for a national litigation consulting firm, Rachel returned to her alma mater to earn both her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Law (Taxation) degrees in 1998 and 1999. During law school, Rachel was the Executive Editor for the Environmental Law Journal, and was appointed to work for professors as a student writing assistant and a tax research assistant.

Before joining the Law Office of Nancy M. Rice, Rachel worked as an attorney providing similar client representation at several boutique tax firms in New Jersey and Philadelphia, and as an attorney for the Office of the Public Guardian for Elderly Adults of New Jersey. Rachel has represented pro bono clients for the Mass Disaster Response Program, the Support Center for Child Advocates, the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project, and the Legal Clinic for the Disabled.
